MIAMI, FL-(29-12-2002) Record-breaking Attendance at the Orange Bowl Regatta. Over 454 sailor from eight countries and 26 states continued competition in Miami, Florida at this year’s Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta. This breaks last year’s record attendance by 66 sailors.
Warm sunny skies and moderate 12-14 knot breezes were the conditions on Biscayne Bay for day two of the competition. Three courses managed by the volunteers of the Coral Reef Yacht Club, completed three races each to get this year’s Orange Bowl off to a good start.
The Optimist Class, ages 15 and under, are sailed in several fleets: Green Fleet for novice sailors (age 15 and under), White Fleet for ages 10 and under, Blue Fleet for ages 11 and 12 and Red Fleet for ages 13-15. The Optimist leaders are as follows:

Optimist White (28 boats): Ivan Aponte-Taboas (Yumacao, Puerto Rico)
Optimist Blue (56 boats): Nick Voss (Miami, FL)
Optimist Red (48 boats): Jesse Kirkland (Warwick, Bermuda)

Club 420 (75 boats): Justin Law & Silja Lentnin (Newport Beach, CA)
29er (10 boats): Marcus & Alex Bernal (Santa Barbara, CA)
